The correct temporary power solution depends on what requires power, where each load is located, when the equipment will operate and which systems must remain available if part of the supply is interrupted.

LOAD PLANNING + CALCULATIONS
Assessment of all electrical loads, operating periods, and usage patterns to determine the anticipated maximum demand. Appropriate diversity and demand factors will be applied to establish distribution system requirements, including transformers, switchboards, cables, and backup power systems. Suitable contingency and spare capacity will be included to accommodate future load growth and ensure reliable operation.
GENERATORS
Generator capacities and configurations will be determined based on calculated loads, operating schedules, peak demand, and critical power requirements. Fuel storage, refuelling arrangements, equipment positioning, noise considerations, protection systems, and backup capacity will also be considered to maintain a safe, efficient, and uninterrupted temporary power supply throughout operations.
PRIMARY DISTRIBUTION
Planning, selection, and installation of high-capacity electrical distribution systems to transfer power safely and efficiently from the main generation source to key areas across the site. The system will be designed around calculated load requirements, distribution distances, and operational demands, with suitable switchgear, cabling, protection devices, and connection points. Cable routing, equipment positioning, system resilience, and spare capacity will also be considered to provide a reliable and flexible temporary power network.
SECONDARY DISTRIBUTION
Power will be distributed from the primary network to individual operational areas, temporary facilities, and equipment through appropriately positioned distribution boards, cables, and connection points. Cable sizing, circuit protection, load balancing, accessibility, and equipment locations will be carefully coordinated to provide a safe, flexible, and reliable power supply throughout the site.
CABLE MANAGEMENT
Cable routes will be carefully coordinated throughout the site to maintain safe, organised, and unobstructed working areas. Suitable cable ramps, covers, supports, and protective systems will be provided where cables cross pedestrian routes, vehicle access points, and operational zones. Consideration will also be given to segregation, accessibility, installation conditions, and ongoing inspection to reduce trip hazards, prevent damage, and maintain reliable power distribution.
SITE LIGHTING
Temporary lighting will be strategically positioned across compounds, access routes, working zones, and operational areas to provide suitable visibility throughout the site. Lighting levels, fixture locations, coverage, glare control, power supply, and operating hours will be considered to support safe movement, efficient working conditions, and continuous operations during periods of low light or darkness.
INSTALLATION + TECHNICAL SUPPORT
Qualified electrical personnel will be available throughout the project to manage installation, testing, commissioning, and ongoing operation of the temporary power systems. Technical teams will provide system monitoring, routine inspections, fault finding, repairs, adjustments, and maintenance as required, while ensuring compliance with site safety procedures. Support will continue through final shutdown and de-rig to ensure all electrical activities are completed safely and efficiently.
LOAD PLANNING
CALCULATING THE POWER REQUIREMENT.
Temporary power planning starts with the electrical load rather than the generator.
Evolution Site can assess the equipment and facilities requiring power to establish anticipated demand and develop an appropriate generation and distribution strategy.
Loads may include technical production, event lighting, broadcast facilities, HVAC, catering equipment, refrigeration, temporary offices, hospitality areas, site facilities, vehicle charging and operational lighting.
DESIGNED AROUND THE LOADS AND LOCATIONS.
Total connected load is only one part of the calculation. The position of each load, its operating period and its importance to the overall operation also influence how the system should be configured. Our planning process therefore considers individual and combined electrical loads, starting and operating demand, single-phase and three-phase requirements, simultaneous equipment use, site layout and cable distances, operating hours, distribution-board locations, critical systems, backup and redundancy requirements, and any future or anticipated load changes.
This information allows generation, distribution and cabling to be selected around the project’s actual requirements. If loads or site layout change during planning, the power strategy can be reviewed and updated before installation, ensuring the final system remains efficient, reliable and correctly matched to operational needs.
POWER GENERATORS
GENERATORS, TRANSFORMERS AND FUEL EQUIPMENT.
Temporary generation may be required where permanent electrical infrastructure is unavailable, insufficient or too far from the areas requiring power.
Evolution Site maintains selected generator, transformer, fuel and battery equipment within its own inventory. Where a project requires additional generation capacity or a different configuration, suitable equipment can be incorporated into the wider temporary power package.
SELECTED FOR THE PROJECT REQUIREMENT.
Generator selection is influenced by the anticipated load, phase requirements, operating hours, fuel capacity, the design of the distribution network, site conditions and the level of contingency required. Each of these factors helps determine both the size and the configuration of the generation plant so that it can support the project reliably throughout its duration.
Depending on the scale and layout of the event, the generation strategy may use a single generator, multiple independent generators serving separate zones, or synchronised units that operate together to supply a larger temporary network. The chosen approach balances efficiency, resilience and operational flexibility.
Generation capacity is always planned alongside distribution and cabling so that power can be delivered safely and efficiently to the equipment using it. DISTRIBUTION BOARDS FROM 32A TO 630A.
Evolution Site holds an extensive inventory of temporary electrical distribution boards for primary and secondary distribution.
Boards are available in ratings from 32A to 630A, allowing temporary networks to be configured around different electrical loads, site layouts and operating requirements.
Distribution boards can be hired individually or supplied as part of a complete temporary power system.
FROM THE SOURCE TO THE FINAL LOAD
Temporary electrical distribution may involve several stages. Higher-capacity feeds carry power from the source into the primary network before secondary boards and cables distribute it to individual areas and equipment.
The required arrangement will depend on the available supply, electrical demand, cable distances, board locations and connections required at each destination.
Our inventory includes 32A, 63A, 125A, 400A and 630A distribution boards, together with the primary and secondary cables, tails, splitters, jumpers and adapters required to connect them.

TEMPORARY CABLING

Temporary sites can require extensive cable networks connecting generators, mains supplies, distribution boards and individual electrical loads.
Evolution Site maintains PowerLock cables in several sizes, together with 16A, 32A, 63A and 125A distribution cables. Splitters, jumpers, tails and adapters are also available to complete the required temporary connections.
CABLES AND CONNECTIONS FOR TEMPORARY DISTRIBUTION
Cable selection depends on the electrical demand, phase, connection type, cable distance and the equipment being supplied. Correct sizing and specification ensure that power is delivered safely and efficiently without excessive voltage drop or unnecessary heat build-up over longer runs.
Cables can be hired individually or supplied in the quantities and configurations required for a complete distribution system. This flexibility allows the temporary electrical network to be tailored precisely to the project’s layout, load profile and operational requirements.

Where practical, cable routes can also be coordinated with back-of-house areas and temporary structures to reduce their effect on guest-facing environments.

TEMPORARY FLOOD AND WORKING LIGHTING.
Evolution Site supplies temporary lighting for operational compounds, access routes, parking areas, working areas and other site environments.
Our inventory includes LED floodlights in several outputs, halogen floodlights and LED tube lights. Lighting can be hired independently or incorporated into the wider temporary distribution system.
LIGHTING PLANNED WITH THE POWER NETWORK
Temporary lighting positions, electrical supply and cable routes can be planned together as part of the wider site layout. Coordinating these elements from the outset helps ensure that lighting is both effective and practical, with power available where it is needed and cable runs kept clear of key access routes and working areas.
Requirements often differ between build-up, live operations and de-rig. Lighting quantities and positions can therefore be reviewed as working areas, access routes and operational compounds evolve. Evolution’s experience includes secondary power distribution and site-lighting delivery for Emirates 7s, demonstrating the ability to adapt temporary lighting and power solutions to the changing demands of a major event.

Evolution Site’s electrical teams can install temporary distribution boards, cabling and associated power infrastructure according to the project requirements.
Equipment can also be hired without installation where the client or appointed electrical contractor will manage the system.
PREPARED FOR OPERATION
Depending on the agreed scope, installation services can include generator and equipment positioning, primary and secondary cabling, distribution-board installation, connection of temporary loads, cable-route organisation and protection, load balancing, electrical testing, system commissioning, and phased installation as site areas become available.
The complete system can be checked before operational handover, with relevant documentation prepared according to the project requirements. This structured approach ensures that the temporary electrical infrastructure is correctly installed, tested and ready for reliable use throughout the event.
BACKUP + CONTINGENCY
CONTINGENCY FOR CRITICAL LOADS.
Not every electrical load requires the same level of backup.
Critical production, medical, security, broadcast and operational systems may require additional protection against interruption. Other non-critical loads may not justify the same level of redundancy.
The contingency strategy should reflect the consequence of losing each supply.
BACKUP WHERE IT IS REQUIRED
Critical loads can be identified during the planning stage so that suitable contingency arrangements are incorporated into the system from the outset. Depending on the project, these measures may include backup generators, synchronised generation, separate supplies for critical systems, alternative distribution routes, additional distribution equipment, planned response procedures and technical monitoring during operation.

FROM INSTALLATION TO DE-RIG
Depending on the project requirements, technical support can include generator and distribution monitoring, routine inspections, preventative maintenance, fuel monitoring and refuelling coordination, electrical fault response, approved changes to the distribution network, support for additional loads, isolation and disconnection, and equipment removal during de-rig.
The required number of technicians and their working hours can be planned around the size, complexity and operating schedule of the temporary power system. This ensures that appropriate technical cover is available throughout the project without unnecessary over-resourcing.
